daybreak is five multi-instrumentalists painting lyrical and musical soundscapes for the future children of planet earth. daybreak is currently recording their debut full-length album tentatively titled 'influence/coincidence' including songs about life, death, war, archetypes, science, prophecy, astrology, and the numerous and often satirical interpretations of existing in the modern age- ranging from lullabys to intricately orchestrated theatrics of sound and expression. The album started off with the self-recorded song Carnival King in 2008. In 2010, after countless rehearsals and personal gains and losses, the band entered Humans Win! studio in NE Minneapolis, where the band currently resides. With producer Dan Zamzow (Deepsoul Deities, Liminal Phase, Cloud Cult) at the helm, along with continued self-production- the album is growing into a dark, yet lighthearted vision of the current times. Influence/Coincidence is expected to be released in 2012.

daybreak has been a decade long evolution. The band first formed in 2001 when Kalen, Tony, Travis, and Jason attended the same high school. They began making music before even properly knowing how to play their instruments in the form of the elusive 'pop-punk,' first calling themselves Rare Promo. Many moons and shows later they began to find their own sound and changed the name to daybreak. In 2005 they released their debut EP This Was Uncalled For- an angst-driven collection of guitar heavy, pop/rock songs and toured the midwest with their friends Shoreline. In the following years Bret joined the band after a similarily youthful run with the band Wendel. With Bret's added vision, the band began to evolve into an articulated psychedelic rock outfit. At first, the sound was cluttered with Casio keyboards and electric guitar delay. It took a few years to reform the music- passing through several different experimental songs and instruments before coming to the songs they are finally confident in putting down for the record. 2012 will likely be the year of the daybreak, or perhaps just the apocalypse... only time will tell.
